Yesteryear Collection

Interflora is a global flower-delivery network that works with more than 58,000 flower shops across over 140 countries. The service began in the United States in 1910, when a few florists came up with the idea of telegraphing orders to one another from opposite sides of the country. This helped avoid the long journeys that fresh flowers couldn’t survive. Soon, florists nationwide were sending orders by telephone and telegraph through Interflora, making it possible for handmade bouquets to be delivered anywhere in the country within a single day.

The first Interflora shop opened in 1912, and the company introduced its famous logo, the Mercury Man, in 1914. The British branch of Interflora was established in 1923, when a nursery owner in Essex and a florist in Glasgow brought the American idea to the UK.

During the war, most land was used for growing food rather than flowers, and petrol and postal restrictions made delivering flowers even more difficult. With fewer flowers available, they became a sought-after luxury—one people especially valued during tough times. To help lift spirits, Interflora arranged deliveries in 1943 for more than 3,000 injured British soldiers, as well as for American soldiers on Independence Day.

Notes: Tangley Models and Trainline Models bought the designs of the original Creak models after Eric Creak stopped producing the Alternative Collection. These models, although Creaks models, have no numbers underneath on the baseplates but are numbered on the box - These models are just as desirable in their own right.

This model is packaged in its original straw-style window box.
